Rep. Salmon Congratulates President-Elect Donald J. Trump

Statement

Date: Nov. 9, 2016
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Elections

Reps. Matt Salmon (AZ-05) today released the following statement congratulating President-elect Donald J. Trump on his electoral victory last night.

"Last night, the American people made themselves heard in the Presidential election and selected a political outsider to lead the U.S. government for the next four years. This should have come as no surprise to anyone who's seen the way out-of-touch Washington elites handle our nation's business, breaking their promises to the American people at every turn.

"This election was a repudiation of the lack of meaningful action in Washington, D.C. Not only are Americans fed up by President Obama's big government policies and the obstruction of Senator Reid, but also by an impotent Republican establishment, a group that has forgotten their legacy of looking out for the rights of the individual and American worker and has lately stood principally for the status quo.

"This election was about a lack of promises being kept, a chief objection I've had during my time here. I'm hopeful that the Trump administration will rise to this challenge and remedy these problems, and I look forward to finally uniting our nation behind the principles that made America great. My sincerest congratulations to President-elect Trump and Vice President-elect Pence."
